When did you start serving at ABC? Fall, 1997

Why are you serving at ABC; what are you passionate about?
I came to ABC to develop a teacher training program in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). I have also taught all of ABC’s general education English courses. I like the English language, and I especially enjoy teaching English to second language speakers. They bring a strong desire to learn English to improve their lives. Many I teach learn English so they can share Christ in cross-cultural settings.

A favorite passage of scripture or a favorite saying:
Philippians is my favorite book of the Bible; my life verse is Gal 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.” God teaches me over and over again that He is faithful; I must accept that fact by faith and live my life accordingly.

Favorite websites, authors or books:
NASA photos I enjoy seeing the marvels of space, even if I don’t always agree with the captions which come with the pictures. My family accuses me of being a news-aholic, because I check out several news websites daily. My favorite authors are George MacDonald, Max Lucado, and most recently I’ve added GK Chesterton; my reading interests are varied, but I do not like Edgar Allen Poe-an excellent writer but his works give me nightmares. I don’t care for sci-fi works either, but CS Lewis is the exception. I enjoy all of his works.

Personal interests, hobbies or activities:
Playing and working with my grandchildren, time spent with my adult kids, teaching English to second language speakers, reading, crocheting, making memory albums for my family, gardening, quiet evenings. I would like to add quilting.
