Student Grievances

Any assault, either physical or sexual, must be reported immediately to the Vice President of Student Development. In the event of other grievances, students should adhere to the following:

  1. The student must first speak to the offender with the intention of reconciliation.

  2. If the persons involved cannot be reconciled, the student must take an RA, CMT mentor, staff or faculty member with them to confront the offender again with the intention of reconciliation.

  3. Following the second meeting, regardless of the outcome, the situation must be reported to the Vice President of Student Development.

  4. If reconciliation is not achieved through the second conversation, the Vice President of Student Development will engage the grievance process.

Appeals Process

If a concern, whether disciplinary or otherwise, is not adequately resolved it may be formally appealed in writing as follows: first to the Vice President for Student Development, then to the Student Affairs Committee, and finally to the President of the College. If these avenues of appeal fail, grievances may be taken to the Alaska Commission on Postsecondary Education (ACPE).
ACPE processes complaints alleging violations of state institutional authorization law relative to postsecondary institutions or programs in Alaska.  The complaint investigation process is described in AS 14.48.130 and 20 AAC 17.130-145.  A student is encouraged to pursue the complaint/grievance process at their institution prior to contacting ACPE.  To request a complaint form please send an email to: EED.ACPE-IA@alaska.gov.

sara student Complaint

Sara Student Complaint Process

Alaska Bible College participates in the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (SARA), which establish a process for approved institutions to offer distance education to students located in other SARA member states, subject to SARA policies and consumer protection requirements.

SARA-related complaints must first be addressed through Alaska Bible College’s internal student complaint or grievance process. If the complaint is not resolved through the College’s process, the student may submit the complaint to Alaska’s SARA State Portal Entity.

SARA complaints generally involve alleged violations of SARA policies related to distance education offered across state lines. These may include concerns related to consumer protection, accuracy of institutional information, recruitment or marketing, tuition and fees, accreditation, transferability of coursework, professional licensure information, or the operation of distance education programs under SARA policies.

Complaints involving student grades or student conduct are handled through Alaska Bible College’s institutional policies and are not normally reviewed through the SARA complaint process.
